About Us

Stretham Players was founded over 30 years ago by a group of dedicated theatre lovers in Stretham Village. The aim was to provide entertainment in the form of drama, comedy, pantomime and our famous ‘Frolics’ giving Stretham villagers the opportunity to participate in, and to enjoy all aspects of the performing arts.

Over the years, we have continuously provided an annual Village Pantomime, which brings delight to our audiences and gives everyone, young or old, the opportunity to perform on stage or to be involved in back-stage activities, Front of House and in all aspects of theatre craft.

Our yearly plays have also been a constant, usually performed 'in the round' or 'cafe-style' or, at one time, when without a hall, performed 'in-house' around the village - such is our enthusiasm!

Whenever possible we have entered our yearly play offerings in Festivals of Drama and have had much success, winning silverware and going forward to compete in further rounds of the All England competition. With awards and nominations for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Cameo, Best Set and Audience Appreciation, we continually strive to perfect our craft and to put Stretham Players on the map.

Frolics is a special Stretham Event, giving all-comers the opportunity to 'strut their stuff' in front of a welcoming,

non-judgmental and appreciative audience. Short acts include music, song, dance, sketches, poems, whatever is your specialty. With a  9 o'clock watershed for young entertainers, Frolics provides a platform for our up and coming youngsters to sing, dance, recite or even to practice their newly acquired magic tricks. Frolics has a wonderful party atmosphere and is loved by many.

Our fund-raising events have ranged from the ubiquitous Christmas raffle to a Murder Mystery Supper. Watch out for new fund raising ideas!
